With your help we can shift power from vested interests back to the people of Ashwood
Community independent campaigns run on small donations from the people they represent — not on party machines or head office money. Every dollar goes straight back into reaching Ashwood voters: corflutes, printing, venue hire, and getting volunteers out on the ground.
What your donation funds
- $7 — send hundreds of text messages to coordinate volunteers
- $60 — 500 flyers to promote our events
- $100 — 5 yard signs to display community support
- $200 — 10 campaign t-shirts for volunteers
- $600 — 1 full page ad in the local newspaper
- $2,600 — targeted social media ad campaign to reach people in Ashwood
- $12,200 — a large billboard on a busy road for a month
Early money wins elections
These donations matter because community independents currently have to compete under laws that restrict their ability to raise funds compared to the major parties. To understand how this works, examine the Wall of Advantage to see how much help our major parties receive.
You can donate if:
- You are not a prohibited donor under Victorian electoral laws.
- You have not donated more than $10,380 in total.
- You are the true source of the funds.
- You acknowledge that your donation, including your name and organisation (if relevant), will be publicly disclosed on the VEC’s website if you donate $1,290 (in total across all donations) or more.
See the VEC’s political donations page for full details.
Hitendra is a registered new entrant, so donations for the 2026 Victorian state election are capped at $10,380 per donor (double the standard $5,190 cap). Donations of $1,290 or more must be disclosed to the Victorian Electoral Commission and will be made public. VEC — information for donors
Contributions may be tax deductible for individuals — generally $2 or more, up to $1,500 in an income year, when given in a personal capacity. Businesses cannot claim a deduction. We can’t give tax advice — check the ATO’s guidance or ask your accountant. ATO — political contributions and gifts
Donation policy — what we stand for
We accept donations from individuals and organisations who share our commitment to putting community first. To maintain our independence and integrity, we do not accept donations from:
- Fossil fuel companies (coal, gas, and related industries)
- Organisations with major contracts on significant government projects (such as the Big Build) where our advocacy might create conflicts of interest
We believe donations should strengthen our connection to the community, not create competing loyalties. Every donation represents trust — and we take that seriously. All donations are disclosed in a timely manner in accordance with Victorian electoral law.
